Photo Scanning by Post

Boxes of family photographs, trays of slides, envelopes of negatives - most collections we digitise never visit the studio in person. Post them to us tracked, we scan them properly in Canberra, and everything comes home the same way with the digital copies delivered online.

How mail-in scanning works

1. Tell us what you have. A rough count and a photo of the collection is enough for a quote - shoebox estimates are fine, nobody expects you to count 900 slides.

2. Pack and post, tracked. Rigid box, original order preserved (we scan in the order received, so albums and bundles keep their sequence). Post to the studio with tracking; we confirm arrival the day it lands.

3. We scan. Prints, slides and negatives are captured at archival resolution, dust-checked and named systematically. Typical turnaround is [TODO: confirm scanning turnaround] from arrival, confirmed with your quote.

4. Everything comes back. Originals return by tracked post [TODO: confirm return postage handling], and the scans are delivered digitally - download link, or USB in the return box if you prefer.

Regional NSW, without the drive

Mail-in is how most of our regional digitisation arrives - from Goulburn and Yass down to Batemans Bay, Cooma and the wider service area. If you are closer in, or the collection is too precious to post, drop-offs at the Fyshwick studio are by appointment - Queanbeyan locals are ten minutes away.

Either way the work is identical: the same scanners, the same archival standards, the same people. Distance changes the postage, not the result.

What can be posted for scanning?

  • Loose photographic prints, all sizes

  • 35mm slides, in or out of trays

  • 35mm and medium format negatives

  • Photo albums (scanned in place or carefully removed)

  • Documents, letters and certificates

  • Small posters and maps (folded history welcome)
