Framing Standards & Longevity

The levels and titles of framing standard differ based on the professional bodies governing the standard within a country or region.

The following standards meet the specifications of the PFGA (AU) and the Fine Art Trade Guild (UK). They outline the differences in materials used and the expected life of each framing standard.

What should you consider when framing?

Framing Standards

The following framing standards outline why you might choose a specific level of framing for your fine art prints.

Our most commonly applied framing standard is the Quality framing standard (Level 3).

Artwork and photographs intended for preservation for future generations, such as valuable artwork or historically significant pieces, should be framed to a Museum Standard. In this tier, all procedures related to the artwork must be completely reversible.

Museum standard framing is designed to protect prints and artworks for up to 35 years when displayed in ideal conditions.

We recommend that your frame is checked every 5 years by a professional conservator or conservation framer to maintain its conservation properties.
